While yes, this does look like wallpaper, it certainly doesn’t have that stereotypical frumpy look. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and say this looks nothing like what comes too mind when most of us think about wallpaper. This is very modern and contemporary. I love the pattern, very much. The color, not so much for my room. It’s a bit dark. I’d love it in black and white or black and grey, though. What do you think about this wallpaper?

Here’s another example of elaborately decorative wallpaper. It’s very contemporary and certainly not for those intimidated by bold colors. This is a very modern take on a floral wallpaper. It’s gorgeous for the right punch of color that brings a room to life. Mix this with the right neutral color palate and you have some gorgeous interior design. Neutrals + bolds = love. It’s the best way to introduce bold colors into the home.
Now, there’s a huge possibility that patterned wallpaper doesn’t go with the rest of the decor and other furnishings in your home. And that’s okay! You have options!
One thing you might want to take into consideration is the look of paintable wallpaper. It’s the next best thing to painting your walls. This wallpaper is textured and bold geometric patterns are a popular choice. This wallpaper is best if you’re going for a Victorian era look on a budget.
Think retro-style wallpaper isn’t modern enough? Well, think again. Designers are dusting off even the most retro designs:
The retro look of the 50s, 60s and 70s is back and wallpaper designers have come up with retro patterns that are so stunning, you may decide to chuck out everything in your living room and start over from scratch with a totally Retro living room designed around your retro wallpaper.
This might seem a bit strange but another trend in wallpaper is ceiling wallpaper. Schneider says, combined with the right lighting, a wallpapered ceiling is great for small rooms or low ceilings that might feel cramped or featureless and boring.
P.S. For the photo lovers out there, wallpaper makes for an interesting back ground for portraits instead of just a plain background. Try it out!
