Ever find it difficult to find things?
Do you find yourself forgetting where you set things down?
If your home is a bit disorganized or cluttered, welcome to most of the human population.
She admits to not being the most organized person, and these organization and storage tips have helped her a lot.
Tip #1. Found Items = Custom Storage
When it comes to storage, there’s all types of things you can use. Palates, shelves, wooden boxes/crates, metal boxes, paint cans, mason jars… be creative. You can use almost anything, just be creative. Most of this stuff you can find at a yard sale or flea market, making it a much cheaper alternative to using store bought shelving and storage. Plus you get a more unique organizational area that reflects your own personal style.

Tip #2. Wood Box Shoe Stand
Using a wood box instead of a shelf for boots and shoes is a great alternative to a shoe shelf. Placing this near the front door makes a perfect home for muddy boots and shoes.
Tip #3. Display Your Jewelry
Do you own so much jewelry that sometimes you forget certain pieces? Or, do some of your favorite pieces of jewelry fade in and out of existence because you don’t have any definitive storage? Keeping your jewelry on display ensures you’ll be able to find them at all times. Plus, you won’t forget about anything so you’ll always have accessories in constant rotation.
Tip #5. Store Small Objects in Groups
Smaller pieces of jewelry are difficult to keep track of at times and are extremely easy to get lost. Utilizing small plastic containers and smaller storage containers like mason jars and closet organizers are a great way to keep track of your smaller bits of jewelery so you’ll never lose another piece again. And it also saves you from having to dump all your jewelery in one container. Don’t you hate it when your jewelry gets tangled?
Tip #6. Use Pantone or Paint Swatches for Displays
Ready for a stylish way to display your jewelry if you’re not game for setting up hooks? Use Pantone or paint swatches and push pins to create this look. It took Elise about 10 minutes to do. And the great thing, you can change the colors by the season, or whenever you just feel like it.
Tip #7. DIY Wood Shelves & Wire Basket Shoe Shelf
Another great idea for storage is to buy really cheap wood shelves and then paint them white. This gives them a very modern and clean feel. Plus decorating white is a great way to brighten up a room. This is a great idea if you don’t want to fork out a lot of money. Wire baskets on the floor are a great way to store your shoes. The great thing about using wire baskets is that you can store your shoes in there, but you can also see what you’ve stored in there. It cuts the time in half when you’re trying to find your favorite pair of shoes.
Tip #8. Chalkboard Painted Cabinets
Painting your cabinets with chalkboard paint looks really cool and is also great for organization. You can leave notes for loved ones and family members, write down tonight’s dinner menu, create a shopping list so you can mark what you need as you need it. There’s too many great reasons why you should use chalkboard paint in the home! It also adds a lot of character to a room.
Tip #9. Use Unique Containers for Storage
Using unique storage containers not only expresses your personal style, but is an aesthetically pleasing way to store things. A cool storage can liven up the room a bit. You can find them easily at flea markets, too!
