Architect John Hill shows examples of four modern homes that are simplistic and minimalist without cutting corners. Some changes to building material and layout make these homes cost less to build than some of their peers, and still pass the design quality control test.
And, eco-friendly (or at least eco-friendlier), modern framework doesn’t have to mean boring, sterile interior design. I was pleasantly surprised to find the opposite was true… especially with the Stuart Sampley home (my favorite). I love that tree in the yard as a strong focal point, and then the inside is just as lovely and soft as a traditional home.
