The gist is that everyone brings an exotic fruit and we, the hosts, provide a batch of the more common kinds. Who doesn’t want to feast on a smorgasbord of Mother Earth’s natural sweets? These balloon garlands were a cinch to make and provide maximum effect.
I think that’s what I like the most about this, is that the final product makes a huge statement, but are extremely simple to make. Simplicity is key with most things, and this just proves my theory. I think this is a great idea for any party that you want to add some color and fun to. It’s guaranteed to make people smile.
- balloons (various sizes, long balloons for bananas)
- green paper for leaves (a darker green & lighter green)
- twine or fishing line
Here’s the how to:
Step #1: It’s pretty simple. Just blow up your balloons. Keep in mind you want them to still look like real fruit so keep your proportions straight. For instance, an orange is larger than a blueberry, but not bigger than a pineapple. For the grapes, tape small purple balloons into clusters.
Step #2: Tie twine or fishing line around the end of the balloons.
Step #3: Cut out the leaves. Keep in mind how the leaves look on the fruit as well.
Step #5: Using the end of the balloon like a stem, tape the leaf to the end of the balloon.
Step #6: Repeat the process and there you have your own fruit garland! How fun?!
