Reading this was the perfect way to start the week, I tell you.
I think we can all relate, sometimes life gets a little chaotic and we need to recharge our batteries somehow.
That’s how Victoria Smith, editor of SF Girl By Bay felt (p.s. check out her bio!). Back in April she posted one from the heart, which explained her feelings of needing to recharge her batteries. She asked her readers,
i’m sure you get like this too from time to time? what do you do to refuel? any ideas for me? i could use a little reader guidance right about now. thanks guys! xo, v.
A week later, she explains how she took the “much needed advice” and to spent some time outdoors. What she came up with is breath taking. Her secret hideout is absolutely incredible.

Unlike most of us, Victoria has her own secret garden. Yes, that’s right. A secret garden. That alone sounds whimsical and majestic, but this back yard tepee is absolutely incredible!
i am very lucky to have a secret garden, which when not engulfed in knee-high weeds, is a lovely little spot to hide out in the big bad city. robyn pope gardens transformed the weeds into a happy oasis of green a while ago, replacing them with river rock, minted moss, lavender, rosemary and mexican sage. and then this weekend, i finally put together this teepee that had been sitting in a box in the garage forever! it’s the most amazing retreat i could hope for.
The tepee is obviously customized to for her own personal retreat (which I love)! You can order the same tepee from Amazon and customize it to for your own whimsical retreat. It’s on sale for 125.99 right now. Dexton 6′ Great Plains Teepee.
But wait a second. Not to divert your attention away from this awesome tepee, as soon as I saw this it reminded me of a tutorial from honestly…wtf? Thing is, for those DIY at heart, and if you have the tools or are willing to purchase them, you can make your own tepee poles. Check out the tutorial here.
I just can’t get over how darling Victoria‘s secret garden is. I feel like the tepee really ties everything together and completes the backyard. Another great thing about this idea is that she’s utilizing the space she has with what she can.
What do you think of this romantic whimsical vibe? It’s totally like getting transported into this small magical little world. It’s most definitely a perfect escape for a nap, or an afternoon alone with the company of a book.
Shows you can create anything you want as long as you put a little creativity and imagination into it, doesn’t it? Check out a bunch more photos of her beautiful backyard retreat at a secret hideout. She has the most perfect backyard I’ve seen! So many great ideas!
